One of the most well-known tourist attractions in North East India is Sikkim. High altitude lakes, sweeping green slopes, vibrant rhododendron gardens, aqua rivers, milky waterfalls, stunning monasteries, and unrivalled views of Mt. Kanchenjunga/Khangchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world, are all scattered across its magnificent terrain.
North, South, East, and West are the four districts that make up the state. Gangtok (East Sikkim), Mangan (North Sikkim), Namchi (South Sikkim), and Gyalshing are the four district capitals (West Sikkim). Gangtok serves as the state’s capital. Tourists may find something special in each of these neighbourhoods.
The major tourist destinations in East Sikkim include Zuluk, Nathu La Pass, Baba Mandir, Tsomgo Lake, and Gangtok. Numerous honeymooning couples travel to Gangtok. Zero Point, the last location for civilians before reaching the Chinese border, is located not far from Yumthang. In addition, Gurudongmar Lake, one of the world’s tallest lakes at about 17.800 feet, is located there. This region has Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It serves as both a biosphere reserve and a national park. You get to observe endangered Himalayan wildlife such as the red panda, Tibetan wild ass, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan blue sheep, and Himalayan tahr.
