After your arrival at the NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport, our representatives will pick you up and you are set for a drive to Gangtok (which is approximately 4–5 hrs) through lush tea gardens, winding hill roads, and glimpses of Teesta River. Check-in at the hotel and relax for a while. In the evening, you shall have leisure time to explore MG Marg, the city’s vibrant promenade lined with vibrant cafés and shops. Eat, drink and merry as you take in your first glimpses of a mountain town, the capital of Sikkim. Overnight stay will be in Gangtok.
Day 2 is for a sojourn across Gangtok. After breakfast, proceed for full-day sightseeing. Let Tashi View Point with panoramic view of Kanchenjunga on clear mornings be the starting point. Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok are known for peaceful hilltop temples with sweeping views of the valley. Feel the peace and the surrounding beauty. Visit the Banjhakri Falls next and enjoy a scenic cascade surrounded by landscaped gardens. Have the religious feel at Do Drul Chorten Stupa that is known as the largest stupa in Sikkim. Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, a Museum of Tibetan culture and Buddhist heritage will unfold interesting facts about Buddhist culture and practices. If you are nature lover, the Flower Exhibition Centre is bound to overwhelm you with a riot of colours showcasing Sikkim’s floral beauty. Evening time shall be free for shopping or café hopping in MG Marg. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
On Day 3, take an early morning drive at around 8 AM to Tsomgo Lake located at 12,400 ft. This is a famous glacial lake attracting hundreds of tourists every year for its beauty emanating from its ever-changing hues. Also, your Gangtok visit shall be incomplete without a visit to the Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, dedicated to the revered soldier-saint of Sikkim. If time and energy permits, take an optional excursion to Nathula Pass situated at the Indo-China Border. This sightseeing will cost extra and also requires a permit. The success of the visit will also depend on availability, if not planned previously. Return to Gangtok and after checkout drive to Darjeeling which is approximately 4 hours of road journey. Spend the rest of the day at leisure in Darjeeling. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Today plan to see the special tourist attractions of Darjeeling. Early morning at around 4 am, drive to Tiger Hill to watch the mesmerising sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga. En route visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. Batasia Loop will come to you as a marvel of engineering and beauty where the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway makes a graceful spiral loop amidst landscaped gardens while Ghoom Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Darjeeling, that was built way back in 1850. It houses a magnificent 15-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha or the Future Buddha and preserves ancient Tibetan manuscripts. This place is a source of infinite peace and solitude. After breakfast at a local eatery, visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute established in 1954 to honour Tenzing Norgay’s historic ascent of Mount Everest and Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, which is a high-altitude zoo and a home to rare Himalayan wildlife such as the Snow Leopard, Red Panda, and Tibetan Wolf. also visit the Tenzing Rock, a natural rock face named after Tenzing Norgay and enjoy the serene ambience of Tea Garden. There are several tea estates that you visit, click pictures and buy the famous Darjeeling tea after tasting. Explore Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda which are both peaceful attractions and strategically located that commands beautiful views. Later, transfer to NJP/Bagdogra for onward journey with happy memories of the Himalayas.
