    The city of Gangtok stands as a hub for Tibetology and Tibetan Buddhist culture, nestled amid the magnificent peaks of the Himalayas. It is the capital of the Indian state of Sikkim and a major tourist destination. After the establishment of Enchey Monastery, this picturesque city acquired notoriety with its spectacular views of Mount Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak. Many monasteries and educational institutes may be found in Gangtok nowadays. Gangtok’s attractions include the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Himalayan Zoological Park, Ganesh Tok, Enchey Gompa, and White Memorial Hall. Another characteristic of the city is that it serves as a hub for travel throughout the state.

    Itinerary

    Day 1Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri - Darjeeling

    • Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, you will be greeted and transferred to Darjeeling (95 kilometers/3 hours).
    • Darjeeling, India’s former summer capital, is a country of endless diversity and charm.
    • It will provide you with a unique blend of vibrant nature and attractive Himalayan people.
    • It is the home of Dorje, the Lama-mystic Religion’s thunderbolt.
    • This little village is surrounded by tea plants and faces some of the Himalayas’ highest peaks.
    • Take a break and then go for a walk around town to get a feel for the new culture you’ve discovered.
    • Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Day 2Darjeeling Local Sightseeing (two points) and best points (04 AM to 07 AM) (9.30 AM to 1.30 PM or 2.00 PM to 6.00 PM)

    • Start early in the morning towards Tiger Hill to see the stunning sunrise and its incredible effects on Mt. Kanchendzonga (the world’s third highest peak).
    • Ghoom Monastery is a must-see (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY).
    • Breakfast at the hotel, then a half-day sightseeing tour of Padmaja N. Zoological Garden (closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center (closed on Sunday), Ropeway (entry costs not included), Mall and Local Market (Closed on Thursday).
    • Evening There is no charge for shopping.

    Day 3Darjeeling to Gangtok

    • Drive from Darjeeling to Gangtok after breakfast. On your journey, stop beside the Teesta River.
    • When you arrive in Gangtok, check into your accommodation.
    • Enjoy the evening to your heart’s content.
    • Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Day 4Sightseeing in Gangtok (9.30 AM TO 1.30 PM OR 2.00 PM TO 6.00 PM)

    • Go on a full-day sightseeing trip of Gangtok the next morning.
    • Views of the Himalayas may be found at Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, and Hanuman Tok.
    • See Do Drul Chorten, Sikkim’s largest stupa.
    • The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology (closed on Sunday) includes a large collection of Tibetan artefacts and manuscripts.
    • On the outskirts of Gangtok sits the magnificently constructed Rumtek Monastery.
    • At the Institute of Handicrafts and Handlooms, you can also buy souvenirs (closed on Sunday).
    • Staying in the hotel for the night.

    Day 5Excursion to Gangtok

    • Start for a half-day drive to Tsomgo Lake (12400ft), which is just 32 kilometres from Gangtok City.
    • The lake is over one kilometre long, oval in shape, and 15 metres deep.
    • The lake is revered by the locals, and 12 kilometres away lies the Baba Mandir, which is dedicated to the soldier Harbhajan Singh.
    • Free evening in Gangtok for shopping and personal activities.

    Day 6Gangtok to Lachung

    • Drive to Lachung in the morning. See Phodong Monastery, Singhik View Point, Chumthang Valley, Twin Falls, and Vima Falls along the route.
    • In the evening, visit the lovely Himalayan hamlet of Lachung.
    • The hotel is where you will spend the night.

    Day 7Yumthang Valley Day Trip

    • Drive to Yumthang Valley after breakfast.
    • Yumthang is a beautiful location surrounded by the Himalayan peaks.
    • The ice in the valley thaws out in the spring, allowing large grazing grasslands to sprout all around.
    • In the meadows, several yaks can be observed grazing.
    • The Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary and the hot sulphur spring are well worth a visit.
    • Return to Lachung for a meal.
    • After that, pay a visit to the Lachung Monastery.
    • Stay at the hotel for the night.

    Day 8Lachung to Gangtok

    • Return to Gangtok after breakfast and settle into your accommodation. Stay in Gangtok for the night.

    Day 9Transfer to Kalimpong and Sightseeing in the Area

    • After breakfast, proceed to Kalimpong (80 kilometres / 2 hours) for local sight-seeing, including Durpin Dara (view point), Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brong monastery, flower and orchid nurseries, and Dello Hill.
    • The evening is yours to do anything you want.
    • Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Day 10Kalimpong - New Jalpaiguri / Bagdogra

    • After breakfast, head for New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport (75 kilometres / three hours).
    • The tour has come to an end.
