    Namchi, located at a height of 1,315 metres in South Sikkim, is a lovely place to visit during your vacation. Namchi refers to the apex of the sky. It is the administrative centre of the South Sikkim district. It is approximately 78 kilometres from Sikkim’s capital, Gangtok, and is easily accessible. It’s off the beaten path between Melli and Jorethang. With expanses of beautiful green tea plantations, the trip from Gangtok to Namchi is gorgeous and pleasant.

    The breath-taking vistas of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third tallest mountain, are one of Namchi’s most outstanding attractions. It is a culturally rich resort that is also known for religious tourism.Here you will find the replicas of all the four highly respected Dhams of India – Char Dhams. Visit the biggest statue of Guru Padmasambhava located on the Samdruptse Hill near Namchi. This hill is revered as the wish-fulfilling hill. Other Namchi attractions include Sherdup Choeling Monastery, Dichen Choeling monastery, Ngadak monastery, Namchi Rock Garden, Flower Festival and Namchi Mahotsav, food and culture festival held annually in October.

    Winter is such an amazing season in Namchi and is definitely a great time to capture its natural beauty. During this season the temperature ranges between 8°C to -15°C. It is biting cold in the months of December and January and the temperature drops to minus degree. So it is advisable that you carry heavy woollens and other things that you might need in extreme winter to keep yourself cozy and warm.. The months of December and January are bitterly cold, with temperatures down below zero degrees. The temperature ranges from 5 to 13 degrees Celsius. It is not suggested to visit Namchi during the monsoon season since the heavy rain may disrupt your sightseeing and travel plans.
