Lachung is a lovely town in North Sikkim with the name’small pass’ meaning’small pass.’ Tourists must get official permission before visiting this stunningly gorgeous hill station, which is located close to the Indo–China border. The Lachung Monastery, which was established in 1850, should be at the top of your to-do list. It is bordered by apple orchards, and Lachung is well-known for apples, peaches, and apricots. For those who want to purchase, the handicraft centre includes a nice assortment of well woven carpets and blankets. The Yumthang Chu flows through the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, making it a lovely spot for a leisurely stroll.

Itinerary

Day 1Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri - Darjeeling

Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, you will be greeted and transferred to Darjeeling (95 kilometers/3 hours). Darjeeling, India’s former summer capital, is a country of endless diversity and charm. It will provide you with a unique blend of vibrant nature and attractive Himalayan people. It is the home of Dorje, the Lama-mystic Religion’s thunderbolt. This little village is surrounded by tea plants and faces some of the Himalayas’ highest peaks. Take a break and then go for a walk around town to get a feel for the new culture you’ve discovered. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2Two points of local touring in Darjeeling (04 AM to 07 AM) and the top points (9.30 AM to 1.30 PM or 2.00 PM to 6.00 PM)

Early in the morning, go to Tiger Hill to see the stunning sunrise and its incredible effects on Mt. Kanchendzonga (the world’s third highest peak).
Visit Ghoom Monastery (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY). Breakfast at the hotel, then a half-day sightseeing tour of Padmaja N. Zoological Garden (closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center (closed on Sunday), Ropeway (entry costs not included), Mall and Local Market (Closed on Thursday).
Evening Free time for shopping and personal activities, including an overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 3Darjeeling to Gangtok

Transfer to Gangtok in the morning (105 km/4 hours).
Gangtok, the capital of the state of Sikkim, is a lovely and clean town with some of the greatest monasteries and sceneries in the world.
Overnight at the hotel, with the evening free for own activities and relaxation.

Day 4Sightseeing in Gangtok (9.30am to 1.30pm or 2.00pm to 6.00pm)

Start your half-day sightseeing tour of Sikkim’s capital city, Chortan (Stupa), Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday), Institute of Handicrafts and Handlooms (Closed on Sunday), Ranka Monastery, and Jakhri Waterfalls in the morning.
Overnight at the hotel, with the evening free for own activities and relaxation.

Day 5Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir Excursion

Start for a half-day journey to Tsomgo Lake (12400ft), which is only 32 kilometres from Gangtok City.
The lake is over one kilometre long, oval in shape, and 15 metres deep.
The lake is revered by the locals, and 12 kilometres away lies the Baba Mandir, which is dedicated to the soldier Harbhajan Singh.
Free evening in Gangtok for shopping and personal activities.

Day 6Gangtok-Lachung

Pick up from your Gangtok accommodation and transfer to Lachung (117 km/6.5 hours) including stops at Singhik View Point, Chumthang Valley, Twin Falls, and Vima Falls along way.
You have the evening free to explore the lovely Himalayan village on your own.
Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 7Yumthang Valley Day Trip

After breakfast, go for a half-day tour to Yumthang Valley, stopping along the way to see the Hot Spring and the Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary.
Some of the images of Switzerland’s natural sceneries and the Yumthang valley are difficult to recognise.
Yumthang, at an elevation of 12,000 feet, is around 135 kilometres from Gangtok.
Colorful blooms and orchids may be seen in April and May, although snow can be found from November to March.
Return to Lachung for lunch and a visit to the Lachung Monastery.
The evening is free, and you will spend the night at the hotel.

Day 8Lachung to Gangtok

After breakfast, drive to Gangtok (117 km/5 hours).
Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 9Gangtok - Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri

Morning transfer to Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (114 km/5 hours)
