This lovely location is 45 kilometres from Kalimpong Town and is two and a half hours away by cab or bus. With its wildlife, jungle hikes through the trees, a hanging bridge inside the thick forest, and a spectacular view of Kalimpong Town, this location in the Gram Panchayat of Kaffer-Kankebong delights travellers. From here, you can see Kanchenjunga in stunning detail. Visitors may observe the sun rise and set from this observatory. The Canopy Walk is a noteworthy attraction. Through the deep forest, there is a 180-meter-long hanging wooden tree-top bridge. Many homes offer home stays to guests as a means of supporting the tourism industry.
By Air: The Bagdogra Airport, located outside of Siliguri, is the closest airport. The location has excellent transportation options and also welcomes foreign airlines.
By train: New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri are the closest railway stations. These areas have excellent connections to other areas of the state and the nation.
By Road: Kalimpong and Lava are the two routes that connect Siliguri to Lolegaon.
In the centre of a forest full of fir, oak, birch, and cypress trees, about a kilometre from the Lolegaon bus stop, lies Canopy Walk, which is connected by footbridges. The 180-meter-long hanging bridges connecting one tree to another allow guests to admire the forest’s grandeur from a distance. The constant swaying of these bridges should be avoided by those who experience vertigo.
By Road: Heritage woodland canopy walks are a wonderful experience. The Lolegaopn canopy walk is situated inside the charkhole forest and is about 1.5 kilometres (six minutes) from the main Lava bus stop.
It is 5500 feet above sea level and 56 kilometres from Kalimpong. From here, you can see Kanchenjunga from all directions. Jhandi Dara offers a stunning view of the rising sun above Kanchenjunga.
A flat area opposite the Eco-Park in the middle of the hamlet is home to a few quaint stores and tea vendors. There is only one market area where you may dine or purchase little items. You may bring your packed lunch on a day tour.
A beautiful site near Lolegaon, Jhandi Dara is 52 kilometres from Lava, 70 kilometres from Darjeeling, and 31 kilometres from Kalimpong. Because it provides views of the Dooars Plains, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kanchenjunga, and Nathula from a single place, the perspective is outstanding. Additionally, the primary draw is that it provides a panoramic view of the magnificent Himalayan Range. One can see Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest’s majestic snow-capped summits from here on a clear day.
It is primarily a footpath that passes through the dense rainforest, goes to a stairway, and then ascends to the elevated vantage point, however automobiles may travel up to a point (very terrible road, unfortunately). Trek up to this viewpoint early in the morning to catch the sunrise if you’re staying in Lolegaon.
Viewpoint at the VIP Bungalow, please. Below the VIP bungalow is a well-kept grass area with lovely viewing galleries. Despite their poor upkeep, you may still obtain fantastic vistas of the Kanchenjunga snow peaks from here.
Samthar Plateau is one magnificent location among the many others in the vicinity of Lolegaon that every traveller should see at least once. This picturesque location, which is situated at a height of around 1,400 m on the foothills of the powerful Himalayas, has terraced farms, mountain streams, and thatch cottages, which further enhance its natural beauty.
