Lachung is around 125 kilometres from Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal, which is the nearest airport at the moment. Regular flights connect the airport to several of India’s main cities, including Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. To go to Lachung, you must first travel to Gangtok, as this is the only and most convenient route. It is around 102 kilometres away from Gangtok (4 hour drive). You can take a cab from the airport to Gangtok first. To visit Lachung, you’ll need an Inner Line Permit (ILP), which you may get from your travel agency or apply for online. So acquire your permission while you’re in Gangtok for a day, and then leave early the next morning.
Getting to Lachung via Train
Traveling to Lachung by rail is a fascinating experience. New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri, West Bengal, is the nearest railway station to Lachung. Lachung is around 191 kilometres away. This railway station has connections to several of India’s main cities, including Kolkatta and Delhi.
