      Detailed Sikkim Darjeeling Kalimpong Itinerary (10 nights/11 days)

      Day 1: Bagdogra (IXB)/NJP Station – Darjeeling (95 kilometers/3 hours)

      Arrival: Your 11 day Sikkim, Darjeeling & Kalimpong excursion begins with your arrival at IXB/NJP station. Our tour representative will meet you there and transfer you to your hotel in Darjeeling, to check in and relax. 

      Leisure Time: This is your leisure day in Darjeeling. You can explore the Mall Road (known as Chowrasta), a pedestrian-friendly promenade. It’s a great spot for tourists to shop and dine. The Mall Road is lined with a variety of cafes, restaurants, and ice cream shops. 

      Overnight stay in Darjeeling: Return to the hotel and sleep well to shake off the fatigue of travel.

      Day 2: Sightseeing Tour in Darjeeling 

      Morning (4 AM to 7 AM): Wake up early to a new day in Darjeeling. Today, we will begin sightseeing by first visiting Tiger Hill. You will see the first rays of sunlight falling on the mountain peak. On a clear day, you can also get the views of Mt. Everest. Later, visit the Ghoom Monastery. 

      Return to Hotel: Enjoy a delish breakfast at the hotel and soon after you can continue sightseeing in Darjeeling. Our representative will pick you up from the hotel. You can choose sightseeing between two time slots: 9.30 AM to 1.30 PM or 2.00 PM to 6.00 PM. 

      Sightseeing in Darjeeling: These are the top attractions in Darjeeling to explore on your tour: 

      • Padmaja Naidu Zoological Garden – Time: 8:30 am–4 pm | Closed on Thursdays 
      • Himalayan Mountaineering Institute – Time: 9:30 am–4:30 pm | Closed on Sunday
      • Japanese Temple – Time: 4:30 am – 7 pm | Opens everyday
      • Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center – Time: 8 am – 4:30 pm | Closed on Sunday

      Transfer to Gangtok: Enjoy the scenic ride of mountainous roads. You will see valleys, peaks, alpine forest, tea gardens, and Teesta River on your way to Gangtok.  

      Hotel Check in: After arrival in Gangtok, our representative will escort you to your pre-booked hotel where you will check in and relax. The rest of the day is free for leisure. You can check out MG Marg’s shops, cafes, and restaurants. 

      Overnight stay in Gangtok: After MG Marg exploration, return to the hotel and retire for the night. 

      Day 4: Sightseeing in Gangtok 

      Morning: Wake up to a new day in Gangtok, freshen up and have your breakfast. Today is all about visiting all the top attractions of Gangtok. You can choose between two time slots for sightseeing: 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM or 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

      The places you will cover on sightseeing tour in Gangtok are: 

      • Tashi View Point – Offers amazing views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. It has a viewing platform and a telescope. 
      • Ganesh Tok – A serene and quaint Ganesha temple on a hilltop with a cafe. 
      • Hanuman Tok – A Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram, located at a height of 7200 feet. 
      • Do Drul Chorten – The largest Stupa in Sikkim built in Tibetan architectural style. 
      • Namgyal Institute of Tibetology – Comprises research center, museum and library with ancient Buddhist scriptures, idols, and paintings. 
      • Rumtek Monastery – A Tibetan Buddhist monastery featuring rare religious arts, manuscripts and artifacts. 

      Overnight stay in Gangtok – After this full day tour of Gangtok’s top attractions, return to the hotel to stay overnight.

      Day 5: Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir 

      Morning: Today after breakfast, you will leave for another tour from Gangtok with our tour representative. The attractions for day 5 are: Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. 

      Tsomgo Lake: Located at 12400 ft. Tsomgo lake is an oval-shaped glacial lake and is considered a sacred site for locals.  

      Baba Mandir: Next, you will visit Baba Mandir, a memorial and shrine built to pay homage to Punjab Regiment’s soldier Harbhajan Singh. Afterwards, we will return to Gangtok. 

      Overnight stay in Gangtok: Enjoy your dinner at one of the restaurants in MG Marg and return to your hotel.

      Day 6: Gangtok to Lachung 

      Morning: After breakfast, we drive from Gangtok to Lachung. The drive is incredibly gorgeous with waterfalls and viewpoints on the way. We will stop by the following places: 

      • Phodong Monastery 
      • Singhik View Point
      • Chumthang Valley
      • Twin Falls 
      • Bhim Nala Falls

      Arrive in Lachung: After long travel, we will reach the beautiful and quaint Lachung. Check in your hotel and stay the night. 

      Overnight Stay in Lachung.

      Day 7: Yumthang Valley Excursion

      Morning: Today after breakfast, we will go on an excursion to Yumthang Valley. The valley is located about 25 km from Lachung. 

      Yumthang Valley: Spend time reveling in the gorgeous beauty of Yumthang Valley aka the valley of flowers. During spring, the entire valley blooms with colourful flowers. You can also spot yaks and mules grazing on the green pastures. 

      Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary: Next, go for a nature walk in rhododendron sanctuary and soak in the charming beauty of this place. Then we will visit Yumthang Hot Spring, known for its medicinal properties. 

      Lachung Monastery: Find peace and tranquility in the Lachung Monastery set amidst apple orchards and lush alpine trees.

      Overnight stay in Lachung: Return to the hotel to have a meal and stay overnight.

      Day 8: Lachung to Gangtok 

      Morning: After breakfast, check out from the hotel in Lachung and transfer to Gangtok. Long hours of travel may wear you out so, rest up in the hotel. 

      If your energy level permits, you can do some more sightseeing such as Gangtok ropeway or Bakthang Falls (with additional costs). 

      Overnight stay in Gangtok: Have dinner and stay the night at the hotel.

      Day 9: Gangtok to Kalimpong (80 kilometres / 2 hours)

      Morning: After freshening up, have breakfast at the hotel and check out from the premises. Today, we will be travelling to a beautiful hill-station, called Kalimpong. 

      Arrival: After a drive of about 2 – 2.5 hours, you will reach Kalimpong. Check in at the hotel and after resting, we will begin the sightseeing tour. You will be visiting the following attractions: 

      • Durpin Dara (view point): The word Durpin Dara means ‘binocular hill’ in the local language. You get spectacular views of the mountains, valleys and verdant greenery. 
      • Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brang Monastery: A Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma school and offers insights into Tibetan culture and heritage.
      • Deolo Hill: It’s the highest point in Kalimpong from where you can get panoramic views of emerald hills, Teesta River and the eastern Himalayas. 
      • Orchid nursery: Finally we wrap our tour for the day with a visit to Orchid nursery featuring a variety of orchids, cacti and succulents.

      Overnight stay in Kalimpong: Our representative will drop you at the hotel. Proceed to yor room and sleep well.

      Day 10: Leisure Day in Kalimpong 

      Morning: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and enjoy this day at your own leisure. You can explore markets and have local delcocales. You can also add additional activities on this day with extra charges.

      Day 11: Kalimpong – Bagdogra Airport/ NJP station

      1. For kids, a birth certificate or passport along with 2 passport size photos are required documents to obtain a permit. 
      1. Aadhaar card and PAN card are NOT proof of citizenship and thus will not be considered as valid documents for acquiring a permit. 
      1. Service of a tour guide is mandatory in case of a foreigner travellers who want to visit North Sikkim / Nathula pass & Baba Mandir.
      1. For Foreign travellers must obtain a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) for which a valid passport and an Indian visa along with the application form is required. 
      1. Minimum two foreign tourists are required to obtain the required permit for North Sikkim/Nathula pass & Baba Mandir. Single foreign tourists are not allowed to visit restricted areas in Sikkim.
