By Train: The most affordable route to reach Gangtok from Mumbai is to board an indirect train from Mumbai Central to New Jalpaiguri (the nearest railway station to Gangtok) via stations like Gorakhpur Junction, Howrah Junction or Allahabad Junction. From New Jalpaiguri, you can take a taxi or bus to Gangtok. The total time to travel from Mumbai Central to New Jalpaiguri will be around 36 hours.
