    Places to Visit in Sikkim in June

    The main allure of visiting Sikkim in June is the mild sun overhead and the rain-washed meadows, trees and valleys. June is ideal for trekking and enjoying the striking and enchanting views of the valleys. The Sikkim tour can be easily planned to cover each of the four cardinal parts – East Sikkim, West Sikkim, North Sikkim and South Sikkim.

    June is considered to be in the stretched season of what we call peak tourist season of Sikkim and absolutely ideal for visiting Gangtok. During these months, the weather remains indulgent for engaging in various thrilling adventures and exploring the various unique tourist attractions of Sikkim.

    During the months of April, May and early June, you can see a bit of snow lingering here and there which starts melting away and adds to the volumes of water to the gushing waterfalls.
    Temperature in and around Nathula Pass drops as low as -25°C that has been recorded during winters. The minimum temperature during the summer months falls to about 10°C. June to September is not very frequented by masses due to the threat of landslides.

    1. What to pack for a Sikkim trip in June?

    Lachung

    Sikkim is a hill station, and the weather is cool to cold throughout the year. Like most of the other states of North-eastern India, Sikkim has very cold weather in peak winters of December to January till even February with ample snowfall. And it remains moderately cool throughout a major part of the year. So, stay assured that a lot of warm clothes are essential for Sikkim whichever month you travel. Don’t forget to pack at least one jacket, a sweater and thermal with you. Also include mufflers, scarves, beanies, gloves and socks, especially for elderly people and little kids as you might need them when you go the higher altitudes while sightseeing in Sikkim. Places like Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass, Zero point will need woollens.

    2. Yumthang Valley

    Yumthang Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers, is a picturesque valley located in the North Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is famed for its stunning natural beauty, with a wide variety of alpine flowers, meadows and pristine landscapes. June falls into the category of “the best time to visit Yumthang Valley”. During the months from late April to mid-June, the valley is covered by unending lines of colourful wildflowers, including primulas, rhododendrons and other alpine blooms. June can be referred to as the valley’s “flower season,” and the valley dresses up and assumes a sight to behold.

Rumtek Monastery is perched atop a hill opposite to the state capital, Gangtok, which makes it an important tourist spot. The site offers some mesmerizing views of the beautiful town. Its architecture reflects traditional Tibetan Buddhist design elements and features a stunning golden stupa, intricate murals and numerous statues of Buddhist deities. The monastery’s design and layout are influenced by the original Tsurphu Monastery in Tibet.
