    The Labrang Monastery has a unique charm exuding from its old-style architectural beauty. It houses a museum that safekeeps precious and ancient statues, murals and language books and is located in the western part of the village. The walls of the museum are painted white, and the roofs of the museum are gilded in a mix of The Tibetan and Indian style of architecture that symbolizes a unique fusion of Indian and Tibetan cultures. Currently, it contains 6 institutes of learning, a gilded stupa, 18 halls, a sutra debate area which contains 60,000 sutras and is one of the largest Buddhist monastic universities. This monastery was built by Gyalshe Rigzing Chempa in the memory of Latsun Chembo of Kongpu and underwent a major re-construction in 1978.
